Oprea has released Opera 10.54, fixing five security flaws, one of which is rated as extremely severe.

The upgrade is highly recommended for all Opera 10.5x users, but the flaws have already been fixed in Opera 10.6 Beta 1, so early adopters are safe.

The nature of most of these security flaws is mostly unknown, with details to be disclosed at a later date. A rather censored changelog is available.

Opera 10.53 users will automatically be upgrading in the coming days, while other users can download Opera from the Opera website.

Overnight, Opera have released a finished Opera 10.50 into the wild, claiming that it is now the fastest browser in the world.

With an incredibly quick development cycle, the browser includes many improvements over Opera 10.

Opera 10.50 includes a new JavaScript engine, along with a new rendering engine, giving it an up to 7x speed advantage over Opera 10.10 at times.

The new browser also incudes a new interface for Windows users, along with support for Jump Lists, Aero Peak and Aero Glass in Windows 7.

Opera have released Opera 10.50 Beta 2 for Windows.

The new browser contains many significant improvements over Beta 1 according to Opera.

Changes include:

  • Skin work, and tweaked styling of internal pages (opera:* and error pages)
  • Improved opera:config
  • Improved overlay authentication dialogs to avoid spoofing
  • Context menu fixes
  • Basic Web Storage user interface
  • Lots of crash fixes
  • Widgets fixes

Opera Software have released Opera 10.50 Beta 1 to the public, with a slew of stability and bug fixes since the first Alpha release.

New in Beta 1 is Aero Glass, Aero Peek, and Jumplists support for Windows 7 users, along with the new Opera Carakan JavaScript engine.

Early reviews and benchmarking shows Opera 10.50 is the new speed king, beating Google’s Chrome by as much as 20% in some tests.

On que, Opera have released Opera 10.50 pre-alpha to the public.

So far, the browser is showing a lot of promise, with the new Carakan JavaScrpt engine being over 7 times faster than Opera 10.

Also new in this release is the Presto 2.5 rendering engine, with greater support for HTML5 and CSS3 elements.

New graphics accelerated rendering support is also added with an updated Vega graphics engine, which will safely fall back to the CPU if need be.

Opera 10.50 also adds Windows 7 integration for PC users, and a new unified toolbar for Mac users.

Private Tab and Private Window are also new, allowing users to open a private tab or window where all history and cookies are forgotten on close.

Currently only available Mac and Windows, download links can be found in the Opera Labs.

An early pre-alpha version of Opera 10.50 has leaked online, just a day before an official alpha release from Opera.

The leaked version includes new features, such as Windows 7 integration, Presto 2.5 rendering engine, improved find, and a new user interface.

Noticeably absent from this leak, is the new Carakan JavaScript engine, which from early Opera benchmarks indicates is 2.5 times faster than Opera 10.

Early adopters will find this release online, and we will update you when the Opera approved 10.50 hits the web.
