Google has pushed out an update to its Chrome browser, taking its stable version to 4.1.249.1059.

The latest release closes seven security holes, 4 of which were rated as high,  with the other 3 rated as medium.

A full list of security holes that were fixed can be seen in the release notes.

The browser will automatically update itself for Windows Chrome users, or can be downloaded from the Chrome website.

Mozilla have pushed out an urgent Firefox 3.6 update, which closes a critical security issue.

It’s the only change for Firefox 3.6.3, which closes a hole that could potentially allow remote code execution after a user visits a site with the infected code.

Firefox 3.6.x users will receive a notification from the browser when it is ready to be updated, or  it can be downloaded directly from the Firefox website.

Microsoft has released an out-of-band update to fix a security issue in both Internet Explorer 6 and 7.

Internet Explorer 8 is safe this time, while the vulnerability could allow for remote code execution when a user visits a website with the malicious inserted in it. Full details on the issue can be seen in Microsoft Security Advisory (981374).

The update is included with Security Bulletin MS10-018 and the flaw is rated as critical, and was originally expected during the 13th April update cycle.

“The Internet Explorer team accelerated testing of this update due to the growing attacks against the publicly disclosed vulnerability” wrote Microsoft Security Response Center Group Manager Jerry Bryant.

The update is available from Microsoft Update, or will be pushed out to Windows users who have automatic updates turned on.

Google has pushed out a small update to Google Chrome, taking it to version 4.1.249.1045 on Windows.

The update fixes a crash bug, and adds a new option to disable the new translate feature. This release also closes a security hole which was rated as low and would crash the browser upon receiving a bad FTP response.

The update will be pushed out to Windows Chrome users automatically, or alternatively, you can download the browser from the Google Chrome website.

Mozilla have released an update for Firefox 3.6 users, taking the browser to version 3.6.2.

The latest update fixes several security issues, one of which is rated as critical, the highest on the Firefox security severity scale.

Existing users are strongly urged to accept the update when their browser prompts them in the next 2-3 days, or alternatively, Firefox 3.6.2 can be downloaded from the Firefox website.

Google has pushed out Chrome 4.1.249.1036 to Windows users, which adds several privacy features and closes several security holes.

Users now also have the option to translate pages using Google Translate if the page they are visiting isn’t in their native language. A great time saver for many.

This latest release closes 9 security holes, 5 of which are rated high, 3 medium, and one low. More details on these security issues can read on the Google Chrome Blog.

Google has pushed out an update to its Chrome browser on Windows, taking it to version 4.0.249.78.

The update now includes extensions and bookmark sync in the stable version on Windows.

The update also addresses 11 security issues, 4 of which were rated as high severity, 2 medium, and 5 low.

New users can download Google Chrome from the Google Chrome website, while the update will be pushed out to existing Chrome users.

Much faster than originally expected, Microsoft have released a patch to address the vulnerability found in all versions of Internet Explorer.

“This security update resolves seven privately reported vulnerabilities and one publicly disclosed vulnerability in Internet Explorer. The more severe vulnerabilities could allow remote code execution if a user views a specially crafted Web page using Internet Explorer. Users whose accounts are configured to have fewer user rights on the system could be less impacted than users who operate with administrative user rights” said a note from Microsoft.

The update includes fixes for IE5.01, IE6, IE7, and IE8 on platforms from Windows 2000 to the newely released Windows 7.

The updated is rated critical and will be pushed out to all users who have Windows Update turned on. Alternatively, system administrators can find out more information plus download links in the Security Bulletin MS10-002.

FirefoxMozilla have pushed out updates to users of Firefox 3 and 3.5. The updates include several security and stability fixes.

Firefox 3.5.6 fixes 3 critical, 1 high, 2 moderate, and 1 low level security vulnerabilities.

Firefox 3.0.16 fixes 1 critical, 1 high, 2 moderate, and 1 low level security vulnerabilities.

Internet Explorer LogoMicrosoft has pushed out the IE Cumulative Security Update for December 2009 via Windows Update and Microsoft Update.

The update is rated as critical for Internet Explorer 5.01, 6, 6 SP1, 7, and 8 for all versions of Windows except Windows Server 2003, 2008, and 2008 R2 where the update is only rated as moderate.

The update fixes five reported vulnerabilities in the browsers.

Being a cumulative update, it contains all previously released updated for Internet Explorer and is recommended for all users.
