OperaOpera has also pushed out a new version of its browser yesterday, bringing with it stability and security fixes.

Opera 10.01 includes 3 security fixes, 1 of which is rated as extremely severe, while the other 2 are rated as less severe.

The release also fixes 15 other stability issues. A full list of changes can be found in the changelog.

OperaOpera has announced that they have over 3 million Opera Turbo users speeding up their web experience since the release of Opera 10 on September 1st.

“Those three million consumers viewed almost 668 million compressed Web pages” said the press release.

“The numbers tell us that Opera Turbo solves critical bandwidth issues. People everywhere experience either slow, congested networks or must pay as they go for Web access. It is an issue that affects everyone, from the business traveler to the Internet café user. Opera Turbo has become universally useful,” said Jon von Tetzchner, CEO, Opera Software.

Opera Turbo uses Opera’s powerful servers to compress Web pages, boosting browsing speeds on crowded Wi-Fi hotspots, tethered mobile phones and even dial-up internet links.

Opera Turbo can be found in Opera 10, and is a free download.

Web browser market share results are out for September 2009 thanks to Market Share by Net Applications.

Internet Explorer has had more than a 1% drop this month, falling from 66.97% to 65.71%, it’s biggest single month drop since November 2008.

Other browser have had a good month, with Firefox moving from 22.98% to 23.75%.

Safari has moved from 4.07% to 4.24%, while Google Chrome has passed the 3% mark moving to 3.17% – up from 2.84%.

Opera has also had a good month, most likely helped by the release of Opera 10, hitting a share of 2.19%, up from 2.04%.

The browser wars seem to be slowly eroding Microsoft’s dominance, which can only lead to greater innovation and better browsers for consumers.

Opera Mini 5 Speed DialOvernight, Opera has released Opera Mini 5 beta 1, and includes many new features.

The browser, which is available for free on a wide variety of phones, now includes tabbed browsing, speed dial, support for both touch and keypad phones, and a password manager.

The preview browser can be downloaded directly to your mobile phone, or from the Opera Mini Next website.

Opera Mini 5 for mobiles is on it’s way, at least according to Opera’s Espen André Øverdahl.

Little information has been revealed, but a splash page has been put up on Opera Next, with the tag line “Coming very soon: The next generation in mobile browsing”.

OperaOpera have announced that Opera 10 was downloaded over 10 million times in the first week since the browser was released.

An impressive feat for the company, but it seems small in size. Apple’s Safari 4 was downloaded 11 million times in 3 days, while Firefox 3.5 was downloaded over 5 million times in 24 hours.

This months browser share statistics are out thanks to Market Share by Net Applications.

August has panned out like another typical month, with Internet Explorer dropping to 66.97% in August, from 67.68% in July.

Firefox jumped slightly to 22.98% from 22.47%, while Safari remained the same at 4.07%.

Google Chrome also increased its share from 2.59% to 2.84%, while Opera was also up from 1.97% to 2.04%.

OperaOpera have released Opera 10, after releasing Opera 10 Alpha 1 way back in December 2008.

“Opera 10 showcases a sleek new design coupled with our new Turbo technology, which keeps Web pages loading lightning fast, even if your connection slows down” says the spiel on Opera’s homepage.

Other new features include an in-line spell check, full Acid3 compliance and mouse gestures.

OperaThe Opera desktop team have released a final release candidate for Opera 10. Release candidate 2 fixes a few bugs that caused the browser to crash, and a bug that caused pages to never stop loading.

A final release is due out tomorrow, September 1st US time.

OperaOpera 10.0 Release Candidate is here, and according to Opera’s Desktop Team, this release “should be considered to be in a stable state code-wise, and that only selected fixes will be added if necessary.”

The release includes a bunch of bug fixes, includes a new logo, and is now around 40% faster than Opera 9.6 thanks to the new Preston rendering engine.

Downloads for Windows, Mac and Linux are available from the Opera Next website.

Opera 10 final is due on September 1st.
