Hot on the heals of Firefox 3.6.7, Mozilla have released Firefox 3.6.8 fixing a single bug.

The update fixes severe crashing bug which many users were seeing when they viewed pages containing plugins.

Firefox 3.6.7 released

Mozilla has released Firefox 3.6.7, fixing several security and stability issues.

A total of 14 security vulnerabilities have been patched, 4 of which are rated as moderate, 2 high, and 8 are of critical severity. A full list of changes can be read in the release notes.

Current Firefox 3.6.x users will receive the update in the coming days, while new users can download Firefox from the Firefox website.

Just days after the release of Firefox 3.6.4, Mozilla have pushed out Firefox 3.6.6. The update fixes 1 bug, but why Mozilla skipped version 3.6.5 is unknown.

“Firefox 3.6.6 modifies the crash protection feature to increase the amount of time that plugins are allowed to be non-responsive before being terminated” said the Firefox 3.6.6 release notes.

Existing Firefox 3.6.4 users will receive the update in the coming days, or it can be downloaded manually from the Firefox website. The update is available for Windows, Mac and Linux users.

Firefox 3.6.4 released

Mozilla has finally released Firefox 3.6.4, after weeks of testing. The new release includes the highly talked about out-of-process plugin support.

The move, aimed at increasing browser stability, moves Adobe Flash, Apple Quicktime and Microsoft Silverlight plugins into their own process. If one of these plugins crashes, the browser will no longer crash along with it. Instead users will be given the option to reload the plugin and its content.

Currently, out-of-process plugin support is only available for Windows and Linux, with Mac versions expected in the near future. Support for other plugins is said to be on its way in future Firefox releases.

Mozilla have pushed out an urgent Firefox 3.6 update, which closes a critical security issue.

It’s the only change for Firefox 3.6.3, which closes a hole that could potentially allow remote code execution after a user visits a site with the infected code.

Firefox 3.6.2 released

Mozilla have released an update for Firefox 3.6 users, taking the browser to version 3.6.2.

The latest update fixes several security issues, one of which is rated as critical, the highest on the Firefox security severity scale.

Existing users are strongly urged to accept the update when their browser prompts them in the next 2-3 days, or alternatively, Firefox 3.6.2 can be downloaded from the Firefox website.

Tip: New Tab at end in Firefox 3.6

Firefox 3.6 has introduced a new tab behaviour, where new tabs are opened next to your currently selected tab, while Firefox 3.5 and older would open new tabs at the end of all your tabs.

If you don’t like this new behaviour, you can change it back to the way it was. Simply follow these steps:

Go to about:config in the address bar
Search for browser.tabs.insertRelatedAfterCurrent
Double click the value to change it from true to false
Done!

Firefox 3.6 Released

As announced yesterday, Mozilla have released Firefox 3.6 right as expected at 9:30 PST.

Firefox includes many new features, including:

Support for a new type of theme called Personas
Checks for out-of-date plugins
Full screen support for HTML5 tags
More HTML5 element support
Improved JavaScript speed and stability
Plus more

Firefox 3.6 can be downloaded from the Firefox website, or current Firefox users can go to the Help menu and select Check for Updates.

Firefox 3.6 Release Candidate 2

Mozilla has pushed out a second release candidate for Firefox 3.6.

The update is said to close a security flaw, of which very little details are available.

Current Firefox 3.6 testers will receive the update automatically, or it can be downloaded from the Firefox Beta website.

Firefox 3.6 final was expected today, but is now expected on January 26th.

Mozilla has pushed out Firefox 3.6 Release Candidate 1 (RC1). This means the browser now contains the final set of changes and new features, and will now only concentrate on bugs that would stop the browser from being released.

Firefox 3.6 RC1 fixes almost 100 bugs since Beta 5, but there are no other new features in this release.

Firefox 3.6 is now just 1-2 weeks away from final release.
